Review of temporary accommodation for homeless people in Northern Ireland: Brief extended

The brief for the review of temporary accomodation provided by the voluntary sector and the Housing Executive for homeless people in Northern Ireland has been extended to cover private lettings made under contract to the Housing Executive. Funding for temporary accommodation accounts for approximately on third of the region’s Supporting People budget, together with very significant amounts of housing benefit and special homelessness grants made to providers. This is a substantial study that involves the compilation of extensive data from a number of different sources, as well as the development of a number of measures of effectiveness and efficiency in relation to different clients groups and differing levels of need. Progress has been affected by issues relating to data compatibility, but the project is now back on track. A report is expected by the end of 2009.
