Community engagement on the Isle of Wight: research, strategy and toolkit

North Harbour Consulting has been appointed to carry out a review the approaches to community engagement currently being adopted by the members of the ISP (Isle of Wight Strategic Partnership) and map these against the Sherry Arnstein & David Wilcox ‘ladder of engagement’ model; compare these local approaches to engagement with best practice elsewhere; consult Isle of Wight residents’, community groups, town and parish councils and the business community on their perceptions and experiences of engaging with the public and voluntary sector, and on how they would like to be involved in developing policy and services in future. The results will help to inform the development of a Joint Community Engagement Framework for the Isle of Wight. Towards the end of the project the project will involve the production of a toolkit for practitioners on community engagement that embodies the principles of the Island-wide strategy.

The project is commissioned by the Isle of Wight Rural Community Council on behalf of the ISP, and is being funded by the South East Community Engagement Partnership.
